Bank Holidays List january 2026: Banks across India are scheduled to remain closed for four consecutive days starting from January 23 until January 26, 2026. This extended break includes both regional and national holidays, and the exact closure dates may vary between states based on local observances.

January 23 will see branches in Tripura, Odisha and West Bengal shut for local festivals and observances, including the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Saraswati Puja and Basant Panchami celebrations.

January 24 is the fourth Saturday of the month. According to Reserve Bank of India norms, banks nationwide close on the second and fourth Saturdays.

January 25 falls on a Sunday, when bank branches are traditionally non-operational.

Finally, January 26 is Republic Day, a national holiday observed across the country, during which all bank offices will remain closed.

Although branches will not be open, most digital banking services will continue to function normally. Customers can still use online platforms, ATMs, mobile apps and UPI services to make transfers, pay bills and carry out routine transactions. However, services requiring physical presence at a branch – such as large cash deposits, demand draft requests and cheque clearances – will not be available during the holiday period.

To avoid inconvenience, account holders are advised to complete all essential branch-based banking tasks before these dates.
